How to Apply for a TESOL Course
Step 1
To begin the admission process for iTTi Montevideo, you must first choose your starting date, complete the online application form, and pay a deposit of USD $500.
Step 2
An iTTi enrollment counselor will contact you with details to complete the English proficiency test if you are not a native speaker. You must reach level B2/C1 to qualify.
Step 3
After you receive your official acceptance to iTTi Montevideo, your remaining tuition payment must be made 30 days before your selected start date.

Positions are available in private language schools, cultural centers, international/bilingual schools, universities, and private tutoring. A TEFL/TESOL certification is generally required, with degrees preferred, especially for international schools. Work authorization is obtained through temporary or permanent residence, which provides a local ID (cédula) and legal right to work.
Typical contracts run 6–12 months, with teachers working 20–25 hours per week plus preparation. Salaries range from USD $500–$1,000/month in language institutes to UYU 45,000–90,000/month (~$1,125–$2,250) in international schools. Many teachers supplement income with online lessons.
