Teaching English in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) offers an exciting combination of professional opportunity, cultural diversity, and high living standards. The UAE is a federation of seven emirates, with cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi serving as major international hubs for business, tourism, and education — making it a strong location for English teaching roles.

To work as an English teacher in the UAE, most schools expect candidates to have a bachelor’s degree and a TEFL/TESOL certification, and many also prefer some prior teaching experience. Native-level English proficiency is usually required, and advanced qualifications like a Level 5 TEFL diploma or a teaching license can improve your chances of being hired.

Salaries for English teachers in the UAE are generally competitive and tax-free, reflecting the strong economy of the region. Typical monthly earnings for ESL teachers range roughly between AED 6,700–18,500 (about $1,800–$5,000 USD), and many positions offer additional benefits such as housing allowances, health insurance, and flight support.
The UAE’s diverse international population and use of English as a common language in business and education create ongoing demand for qualified English teachers. Beyond work, the country offers a vibrant lifestyle with world-class cultural landmarks, multicultural communities, and an environment where teachers can grow personally and professionally.
